The beauty of being a blogger is that I have a platform to share whatever note-worthy topic that pops into my head. Sometimes, the crazy stories I come across on the interweb or the random thoughts that pop into my mind aren’t really noteworthy at all {on their own}. They usually make me pause, laugh, or just plain roll my eyes and I go on about my day. So, without further ado, here’s this weeks edition of Random Goodness from Around the Web:
Bring on the Monkeys Jumping on the Bed
While most of the time I find all sorts of random stories to share with you, this one just hit me in the feels. With so much chaos happening in our country today {hurricane after hurricane and wildfires burning millions of acres with no end in sight!}, there is a business owner in Houston, Mattress Mack, who is making an incredible difference.
He opened two of his furniture stores to complete strangers so they’d have a place to shelter during Hurricane Harvey. He sheltered them, clothed them and fed them. Almost 1,000 people were housed in his stores and he lost $30,000 a day because of it. But he didn’t mind that one bit. “If we can do that and make their lives a little easier as they try and get things back together, then maybe we’ve done something right in our lives,” he said. He doesn’t want to be labeled a hero, but he certainly is in my book!
Can one of you pretty please purchase this luggage? It’s a suitcase cover. Of your head. It’s a YOU case! First, you’ll obviously never have your luggage stolen, and it’ll be so easy to pick out your luggage at baggage claim. And you’ll never be without a conversation starter or be accused of being boring. How funny would this be if you saw someone carting this around an airport? I’d love it! Or how awesome would this be as a gag gift! Oh and the best part is you can choose from small, medium, or large. So you can cover ALL your luggage with your face. Ha!
Give Me a High-Six?
You know how people are always saying they need more than 2 hands to accomplish certain tasks? Well I raise you one and introduce you to the 2nd thumb. It’s an actual second thumb created by New Zealand designer, Dani Clode. It looks so odd and probably feels so odd, too, but I can totally see how useful it would be once you got used to it! What do you think? Is this something you’d ever invest in if the price was right?
Well These Are Handy
Speaking of hands, if you’re looking to make a wildly inappropriate fashion statement, you need these Handerpants in your life. If you’ve been wearing your gloves on your bare skin, you need a pair of underpants for your hands. Obviously. They’ll definitely keep your hands warmer. They’ll also narrow your social circle if you wear them out on the town, so there’s that.
And that concludes this installment of Random Goodness from Around the Web. Please make sure to leave your random responses in the comment section.

It’s cold wet and miserable here, I was feeling a little meh! But then I read this, I have literally laughed my socks off! So funny especially the handerpants! And what a great guy Matress Mack is, he’s truly a hero. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing

I think Handerpants kind of make sense. The inside of my kids thick winter gloves always get smelly after awhile, and they never come out of the washing machine the same. Those finger linings are hard to stuff back in. If they wore these underneath, then this would be a quick, easy wash. But for $12, I guess a thin pair of cheapo dollar store gloves would do the same thing.

I LOVE the suitcase cover! I wouldn’t put my face on it, but I have a great pic of my cat sitting on my laptop giving me a dirty look as I bothered him while I took his photo. It’s actually not super expensive and it would even protect my luggage when I travel, to say nothing of making it much easier to spot my bag on the turnstile. I just might get that.

Mack is an institution in Houston. He is a philanthropists’ philanthropist! That is why he is so very successful!
My son and daughter in law bought a new bed from Mack after there’s was ruined in Hurricane Harvey because of what Mack did for the evacuees. Mack also contributed part of the sale of every new bed to the recovery effort in Houston.
What a guy!!
I miss Houston!!!
