The beauty of being a blogger is that I have a platform to share whatever noteworthy topic that pops into my head. Sometimes, the crazy stories I come across on the inter-web or the random thoughts that pop into my mind aren’t really noteworthy at all {on their own}. They usually make me pause, laugh, or just plain roll my eyes and I go on about my day.
So, without further ado, here’s this weeks edition of Random Goodness from Around the Web:
Why You Should Always Listen to Your Mama
This is a disgusting, awesome, weird, gross, perfect story! A mother used an interesting way to remind her child about his forgotten chores when she sent him some trash in a care package. That’ll teach him to take out the trash! Before you think she’s a monster, she actually sent her son 2 separate packages. One box contained food and other goodies. The other one contained garbage. When the son questioned his mom as to whether it was a mistake, she told him it was the very trash he had forgotten to take out. He laughed. Lesson learned.
That is a Human, Not a Spring Roll
Adult swaddling is a thing. I cannot make that up. You know how swaddling is magic for making babies feel safe and warm, and putting them to sleep? Well Japan is taking that a step further and extending that to adults. The practice, called otonamaki, translates into “adult wrapping.” It involves being wrapped from head to toe in a white bag and gently rocking from side to side. Like a baby. It was created by a Kyoto-based midwife, for postpartum women suffering from post-labor shoulder and hip pain. It was meant to help women feel relaxed as well as help loosen up muscles and bones. Sounds good in theory, unless you are claustrophobic. Then it looks like torture!

Okay, so this looks so awesome, but until it can fold laundry, scrub toilets and do dishes, I’m not sold. Ha!
Easter and Oreos Collide
If you get on the Easter Bunny’s good side, maybe he’ll bring you these weird Oreo Peeps. I think these are going to be either loved or hated, much like Peeps themselves. Are you on Team Peep or do you think this is the most disgusting thing you’ve ever seen?!
And that concludes this installment of Random Goodness from Around the Web. Please make sure to leave your random responses in the comment section.

I’ve never had a Peep, actually. I don’t figure I’m missing out too much though. I’ll skip the Peep Oreos. They really look gross to me!

I was 99% sure you were going to link the giraffe cam here this week. People around the world are waiting patiently for April the giraffe to give birth and it’s LIVE!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcXWq40F5Hk
I find myself watching more than I should. She is so beautiful and she’s gonna have a baby!!

Peeps are disgusting and are only good for science experiments in my house. My kids don’t think they are meant to be eaten and I agree. Why, oh Makers of Oreos, would you do such a horrible thing?

So I was just at the local HEB grocery store this morning. Not only did they have Peep Oreos,….. they also had Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Oreos. Regular Oreos with chocolate filling and a dallop of strawberry filling in the middle. I passed on both. I am either getting old or junk food has changed. None of it tastes as good as it did when I was a kid.

100% Team Peep! I like them when they’re a tiny bit stale and have that crust. Pop the whole thing in your mouth and enjoy! Of course – I do this with exactly 1 Peep every year. I value my teeth too much to lose them to Peep overdose.

The first thing that popped into my head when I saw the swaddling thing is when I am trying to get out of bed and the sheets are all tangled around me how frustrated I get. I also hate Oreos and peeps so I think I would pass on the cookies.

totally on the PEEP side but I don’t know about in Oreos–I do like them melted on graham crackers!

The adult swaddling concept reminds me of weighted blankets used for children suffering from anxiety disorders and autism spectrum disorder. There are different weights depending on the size of the child and before anyone panics these are heavy weights that would prevent a child from moving. The weights are around 5 lbs to 15lbs. They are also being recommended for adults with insomnia and anxiety. The little bit of extra weight is like receiving a full body hug and is comforting (not like you’re being held down or anything). Parents are reporting positive effects using them with children as are adults. I had a heavy blanket I made years ago and it was very comfortable to sleep in and I remember sleeping very well with it. Could be a nice alternative to medications or to be used in conjunction with meds.

Team NO PEEP here. My mother LOVED them and thought we kids would as well, so our Easter baskets were filled with ’em, BARF! They say they are “marshmallow” but I’ve had a bazillion marshmallows and LOVE them and Peeps…..taste NOTHING like a marshmallow, just chemically weirded out sugar lumps!
Sharon@MLT says
Peeps how I love you. Gotta be the yellow chicks, not the pink bunnies though.
I also love those chocolate eggs with the actual egg looking filling.
And if your mom loaded up your basket with candy you weren’t really into, well that candy was for her. What, you don’t want your peeps? I guess I could eat them….

I’m anti Peep, but, as gross as Peep Oreos sound, Swedish Fish Oreos just HAVE to be grosser. Ha!
