For the past few weeks Mrs. HB and I have been going on walks around the harbor.
We talk about our families, politics, healthcare, and we ponder things like who on earth would pay $132 to paint a piggy bank. It’s been a lifesaver. For both of us. Kind of like therapy, but instead of paying someone to listen to you yak it up, we treat ourselves to a hot beverage or lunch at a new spot each week instead.
I’ve never really done that before and it seems so grown up. Walking with a girlfriend just for the sake of walking. Somedays I think I miss my old neighborhood. But I think what I miss most was how quiet it was and the luxury of being able to walk out my door and to a neighbor’s house without calling ahead and just sitting at their kitchen table for 2 hours and talking about nothing in particular.
Kohl’s. I love you. Especially when I can find something that comes to exactly $10 so I can use the $10 off a $10 purchase coupons you keep sending me and not have to pay a single cent.
True, I’ll be donating a pair of hot pink granny panties to the local women’s shelter, but still, 3 pairs of new underwear! Wahooo.
Speaking of clothing…What’s old is new again, or something like that.
The Girl and I went through Monkey Boys clothes last week and laid them out on the family room floor so he could “shop his closet.” He had so many things shoved into drawers, on shelves and at the bottom of his closet I honestly don’t think he knew he had.
Now he does. 😉
How does one aquire 17 pairs of pants anyway? Seriously.
Have a great day everyone, stay out of trouble and have fun.

I bought 13 pairs of socks for $13. at TJ Maxx cause son said his socks were shot. Admittedly, I do the laundry and could verify this. BUT….when I took out the lone sock basket….. you guessed it. That many pairs again–some went in the trash, so all together about 20 pairs now total

I desperately need to do this with my son’s closet…his whole room actually. Since he is saving us a fortune while attending our local state university and living at home..he has told me his room is off limits. Sometimes I think he could be hiding a body in there under the clutter.

Oh, but wait please–I think it should be that he is not saving YOU a fortune, he’s saving HIMSELF a fortune! I, too, live in a college town where my sons attend. We told them that they could live at our house free or get loans or several jobs to pay for the dorm if that was their desire. After all, my house payment doesn’t go down just because they don’t live here anymore. We shouldn’t foot the bill for their living expenses elsewhere! That being said, if they live at my house there are certain minimum cleaning standards that must be met just like in the dorm! Please tell me I’m not the only one with such rules!

I have two girls at university who live at home too and I agree with you Lauralli! They know that we are not required to pay for their lives now. We pay their tuition and they help out at home. We all love having them home especially little brother and they love living here too. There was a little longing the first month freshman year hearing about all the fun their friends had dorming. After the dorm honeymoon period has worn off their friends, we hear them constantly say how glad they are to miss the drama, have home cooked meals, laundry, etc. It doesn’t matter if you live at home or in the dorms, when you live with others, you need to be considerate and clean up. I remind them that dorms have even less space and roommates would like their messes even less than their mom. Yay for saving money and not having debt!

My husband has that many pants easily and all brand new with tags but about 4 pair. He will wear them out until they fall off him before breaking in a new pair of jeans. His mom buys the socks for all the men each year for Christmas so I never have to do that.. just getting him to wear new stuff is hard!

Where do you get those kohl’s coupons from so often? I get them very rarely.
Mavis Butterfield says
They just appear in my mailbox. I do not have a Kohl’s card.
Laura T. says
I just did a Kohl’s run! I had a 20% off coupon, a $10 off coupon, 2-$5 off coupons, plus a $20 off coupon because it was my anniversary for getting the card or something! I didn’t need anything so my husband got some new clothes.

If we are counting dressy pants, workout clothes, and jeans I have way more than 17 lol! But I do wear them all in rotation.
