One month into my 52 week challenge, and I think this will be my favorite challenge yet. I am loving it! The books from last month were all great picks. I laughed, I cried, I learned a thing or two. Mission accomplished!
Here is what’s on the literary menu this month:
The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch: I’ve listened to his talk about a million times and I think I love it more every time. The reviews on this book say it combines the same humor, inspiration and intelligence that made his lecture such a phenomenon. I’m so looking forward to reading it.
As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride by Cary Elwes: Unless you have been living under a rock, you are probably aware that The Princess Bride Movie is a cult classic and one of the greatest movies ever made. So this book, filled with set secrets and backstage stories, is the one I am most looking forward too!
Don’t Let Me Go by Katherine Ryan Hyde: I’ve read a few of Katherine’s books before and really love her writing style. Pay It Forward, which was turned into a major motion picture, was my favorite. So I’m excited to escape into her latest fiction.
Paper Love: Searching for the Girl My Grandfather Left Behind by Sarah Wildman: Ever since listening to the author talk about her book on NPR I’ve been fascinated by this story. It sounds like the story straight out of a Hollywood movie, but it is so true. That makes it even more compelling.
The Death Class: A True Story About Life by Erika Hayasaki: This is another book recommend by my friend JJ. My daughter is a total science nerd and JJ thought The Girl might be interested in this one so I gave it to her for Christmas. Well, now it’s my time to read it. 😉
Check out all the books I’ve read this year:
2. Yes Please
4. Still Alice

Can’t recall if ‘Where’d ya go Bernadette’ is on your list or not, but I recommend it! It’s set in Seattle partially so kind of interesting to hear about local landmarks in the book.

Love this idea… This year I am going to keep track of what I read – I tend to devour books rather than read them I think! So far this year I have read at least 7. Will go and write titles down as I go now, just out of interest!
Also perhaps add the goal of building our library??
I am also going to keep an eye out for that book “As You Wish” 🙂

ah, Lisa,
I am like you. I tend to devour books instead of being a mindful reader! I have a very bad procrastinator technique of picking up a book and reading instead of doing my household chores!!! I do read a lot of books though and like the idea of keeping a list. Wish I had started many, many years ago. Would be interesting to see what interested me at different stages of my life. Will start doing now though.

Hope your list is going well, fellow Devourer!! lol
I am all for ignoring the dishes if there is a good book around! 🙂
