I came across the recipe on my friend Jane’s blog. Jane had found the Best Lemon Bars in the World recipe from the Smitten Kitchen. The Smitten Kitchen found the recipe from the Barefoot Contessa and then slightly adapted it.
And The Barefoot Contessa? I have no idea how SHE FOUND IT.
But oh boy, you are going to want to hide these babies. In fact I highly recommend making them while the kids are at school. Cruel I know… But these lemon bars are so good they will make you cry… or at least put you in a sugar coma for a good 2 hours.
Want the recipe? Head on over HERE to print it out. I’d type it up for you, but I hear another lemon bar calling my name.
Why are you still here? What? The lemon bars were not enough? Do you need another excuse to buy Meyer Lemons? Fine. Then you’ll want to take a look at Luscious Lemon Desserts by Lori Longbotham.
Have a good one,
~Mavis

These look terrific, just printed the recipe. I especially like them on your Martha green cake plate, and like your green reamer to juice your lemons. Where do I get a green reamer?

Hi Helen, I found mine at an antique store. 🙂

See, I knew that I would get a whopper of a recipe soon enough for those lemons you got for FREE! Will try these out for my mom, who loves all things lemon, for her birthday celebration! Thank you in advance! 🙂
(Don’tcha just love that Barefoot Contessa? I wish I could sit at her kitchen counter and watch her make and bake all day long! That would be such a dream day!)
PS. You need to try the DIY Marshmallows from Smitten Kitchen too—needless to say, they are a tad bit addictive! Fun project on these colder days!

There are more lemon recipes on the way. 🙂

Lemon oil may be used in aromatherapy. Researchers at The Ohio State University found that lemon oil aroma does not influence the human immune system, but may enhance mood.
