Sometimes I think people are turned off by gardening because they don’t think they have they space. This morning I went out and harvested a large bowl full of salad greens. Salad greens I had started in a recycled wood pallet about 6 weeks ago.
Tonight will be enjoying our very first “wood pallet salad.” Yep, these gorgeous salad greens {and more} came from one tiny 4′ x 4′ wood pallet garden.
Anyone can do this. No matter how small their growing space is.
You just have to channel your inner pilgrim and tell your self “I can grow anything,” and then get out there and do it.

“channel your inner pilgrim”—brilliant. It should be the title of your blog.

What is the lettuce type that is top center in your “varieties” picture at the top of this post? That is the type of lettuce that I ended up with and my mom and I can’t even figure out what I planted (didnt save the seed packets, oy…)

I’m not sure. I used a few “salad blend” seed packets from Botanical Interests and they all contained 6-10 different lettuce types. You can take a look HERE.

I found holes in my spinach and some leaves have been eaten down to the stem. How do you get rid of bugs to prevent further damage?

Nice to see someone else is doing this. I lugged home a huge, King bed sized pallet, nailed boards around all the edges, placed it on metal latte with a few inches sticking out(NO SNAILS!)for the gopher, I’m amazed at how much food and herb i c0uld/can grow in such a nifty place/space. Not only can I control the water better, I used the best products I could afford to make my soil. Never will I ever depend on a store again for the bulk of my food. I have one small pallet going with oats! My own oatmeal! What I am trying to say is, there are many varieties of pallets out there! I pallet run at least once a week 🙂
