Yesterday The Girl and I loaded up our rental car stuffed full of gnomes and headed out early on the first leg of our road trip to Memphis, Tennessee. According to google maps the trip {with stops} was suppose to take 9 hours.
Out first stop was a house we pass often in Gig Harbor, Washington. The owners yard is filled with garden statues, but oddly enough, they don’t have any gnomes. Not a one! Can you believe that? We figured the owners wouldn’t mind waking up to a few more on the porch and in their garden pots so The Girl and I quickly placed about 12 gnomes on the property, tied a gnome balloon to the fence and left a note behind. 🙂
Our next stop was the Cascade View Elementary school garden in Snoqualmie, Washington. As we pulled in to the parking we noticed some kids playing nearby and with the approval of their mom, the kiddos help us place gnomes throughout the school’s vegetable garden.
Dick and Jane’s Spot in Ellensburg, Washington was next on the list. If you’re ever near Ellensburg, you have to stop at this place, it’s amazing! Dick and Jane both graduated with a BA in art from Centeral Washington University back in 1971 and their home has been a work in progress for the past 35 years. The eclectic displays on the property were created by over 40 artists and it truly is a one of a kind home and garden. I took a boatload of pictures of the artwork and backyard garden and will share as soon as I get the chance.
We also stopped and gnomed the Four Rivers Community Garden and food pantry in Ontario, Oregon. Not only did we place a gnome in every bed, but we also hid a few in the flower beds and bushes. 😉
I hope One Hundred Dollars a Month reader Helen in Meridian woke up to a great surprise this morning! We gnomed her place late last night on the way to my friend Amber’s house.
Once Amber, Lola, The Girl and I met up, we immediately set out on a mission to “Gnome” an entire neighborhood somewhere in Kuna, Idaho.
We placed gnomes on front doorsteps, back porches, unlocked RV’s, a swimming pool and even a neighborhood park. We left flyers letting peeps know what we were doing and asking them to send in pictures of themselves with the gnomes they found. It was a wild and crazy day and we didn’t get to sleep until around midnight.
Today we are headed to Denver, Colorado and hopefully to Red Rocks and then it’s on to Kansas!
We’ll check back in as soon as we can, peace out Girl Scouts,
~Mavis

How. Fun!! I love this post!
For my 35th birthday this year, I did 35 random acts of kindness. Which was cool. But this is totally more fun. Love it.
