I just made these to hang from my office ceiling. Maybe you’ve been making them for years but this was my first time. I was so surprised with how much I loved them, how simple they were to make and how freakin cheap they were.
I made these with the tissue paper I had in my craft closet but you can order a Martha Stewart kit if you don’t have any fun tissue paper lying around. I mean tell me they didn’t turn out so cute? One of my favorite crafts lately.
Supplies
colorful tissue paper
scissors
florist wire or fishing line
ribbon or fishing line
Directions
On a flat surface, stack 8 to 10 sheets of standard-sized tissue paper. Fold width wise like an accordion. Cut both ends of the folded tissue paper into a point.
Wrap the florist wire around the center of the tissue and then tie a ribbon onto the wire so you can hang the finished pom-pom.
Then carefully pull apart layers of tissue paper and fluff them to form a circle. Wallah. Your cute and inexpensive craft project is complete.

These look great. I also made some for the first time recently as birthday decorations for my daughter, with neon pink tissue paper which looked really cool.
(Also, it’s not “wallah”, but “voila” from the French. I think this might be fairly common, caus I only found out last year my youngest always thought it was ‘wallah’ too, which is understandable caus you only hear it said and that’s how it can sound!)

Mavis, I am surprised you have never made these before. They were kind of the go-to, easy decorations we made in school. We made thousands of them to decorate for our school dances. We would nail chicken wire on the walls of the (old) gym and tuck our thousands and thousands of tissue paper flowers into the holes and instant (sort of) fluffy wall.
My Red Hat group also made big ones and glued onto a headband for an instant hat!!!!

Well, this is fun! I immediately thought of changing them for the season, special events. ….themes….blue and green (Go Seahawks)!
At that point I realized that I would have a closet full (think horse stable) of paper puffs and decided that I had lost my mind for the day. Sure was entertaining :> and put a smile on my face.
Thanks, Mavis
