Looking for the best ever savory scone recipe? Well, Savory Bacon Cheese and Onion Scones is the one! I whipped these scones up yesterday and they were SO GOOD, the HH and I each ate two of them. Bacon, pepper jack cheese and onion… what more do you need?
Seriously, these are crazy good. And I think it was the pepper jack cheese that put these savory scones over the top.
Great on their own, with a little bit of butter or alongside a bowl of your favorite soup.
This is a recipe you totally need to try.

PrintSavory Bacon Cheese and Onion Scones
Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh cracked pepper
- 1/2 cup green onion, chopped
- 1 1/2 cups pepper jack cheese, grated
- 6 slices cooked bacon, chopped
- 2 cups heavy cream
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400 F. Line a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and set aside.
Combine dry ingredients {first 5} in a mixing bowl. Add in onion, cheese and bacon. Stir the mixture thoroughly to combine.
Slowly pour in the cream and mix with a fork until a sticky dough clump forms. Knead dough about 10 times and then press the ball onto a floured surface, pushing down until a circle about 8 inches is formed {the dough should be about 3/4 inch thick}.
Cut into 8 triangles. Place the triangles onto a prepared baking sheet about 1 inch apart. Brush tops with a little cream or milk and then bake about 20 minutes or until golden.

Hi Mavis, I have been following you since very early in your blogging career, although I rarely comment. I’m not a biscuit enthusiast, so I didn’t think I would care much for scones either, but these look so dang amazing that I’m going to try them. They should be on the cover of “something”. Ever thought about writing a cook book? It would sell like the proverbial hot cake.

I swear that I could smell bacon and onion just looking at these. When it cools down here I’ll be trying these. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent recipe. Everyone liked them. Will definitely make again. Want to sprinkle with flakey sea salt next time.
