How was your Christmas? Were you up at 5 am with the kiddos, or did you get to sleep in and enjoy a relaxing morning? Did you make the naughty or nice list?
Well, the Handsome Husband received a wee bit of coal in his stocking this year {big surprise there} and the kids and I received a few gift cards and sweets in ours. No tangerines in the bottoms of our stockings this year though. Did you get one? Is there a citrus shortage this year or something? Hmm
The best gift I received this Christmas was from my boyfriend Ryan the Hottie of a Horticulturalist from Botanical Interests.
He handpicked me a few seeds for my 2013 garden.
Hey Ryan, does the boss man Curtis Jones know about this love affair of ours? Holy canolies boyfriend, I think you sent me enough seeds to grow like 2 tons of food.
Wahoooooo!
I hope you all had a great day,
Mavis

My HUSBAND was the one going into all the bedrooms at 7AM saying that Santa had been here. We made him wait an hour longer, while we all slept in until 8am. I guess that’s what happens when the kids turn into teenagers! We did receive a BOX of Sunkist oranges from a friend. Wow – boyfriend Ryan is such a sweetie…love the note he wrote you! haha!

Merry Boxing Day, We got up at a civilized hour yesterday not 5am. That’s the perks of having a middle schooler and high schooler! We did have Cuties but must confess we’ve been having a love affair with them so this is our 4th 3lb bag. Stockings always have tons of candy (German, Belgium, and Swiss. Thank you World Market Cost Plus. Your breakfast rolls look yummy. We did crescent rolls baked with cream cheese and cinnamon sugar. Definitely a treat! I can’t wait to see what you decide to plant this upcoming year. I have so enjoyed the journey you’ve taken us all on from the beginning of jumping off that processed train….you’ve evolved girlfriend and I’ve enjoyed you letting us all travel along with you. Wishing you a heartfelt great New Year. I think 2013 will be great for your inner Pilgrim.

Our ‘kids’ get us up way before dawn and Christmas morning was no difference. We did take our time having breakfast and opening presents.
Gifts for the garden were amongst mine, thus I was a happy camper.
How I have missed Botanical Interests all these years of gardening is beyond me but am looking at a few packs to give a try. Since we are now gardening/farming in a zone 5 and with a marine influence it is always interesting to see what works.
My food growing has gotten much more intense than past years as I no longer live near any farmers or markets and the availability of fresh items is not there, unless I grow them or fly them in.
Getting excited about getting things going in the next few months!!

Any chance Ryan will be giving a discount on seeds for your followers??? Just my frugal side coming out 🙂 … I was on their website tonight and my cart is at almost $100 …

We open all the presents Christmas Eve. Only the stockings are there on Christmas morning as that is all Santa brings. No particular breakfast Christmas morning in particular. Usually just leftover lefse, cereal, toast. Children are all over 20, 2 of them home, one married. no one got up until 11 or so . We had dinner about 1:30 p … we make Yorkshire pudding and when the pudding is ready you need to be at the table.
