You’ve seen my house. You’ve seen my chickens. You’ve seen my garden and my food pics and my pantry and my arts and crafts and so many pictures of Lucy you could pick her out in a crowd of identical puggles. And I love that you keep showing up so I can keep on sharing. BUT… sometimes it’s fun to not see the same old same old garden/chickens/kitchens.
Sometimes it’s awesome to see what YOU are up to!
So now it is your time to shine {and share!}. Get your camera fired up and show me what you’ve got. I want to hear your garden stories, see your sweet garage sale finds and be educated by your money saving tips.
The overall rules are pretty simple: it has to be original and must not have been published or submitted elsewhere. And you MUST have 3-5 good quality photos {the more the better}. Needs some ideas? Go HERE to take a look at some previously accepted Mavis Mail Submissions.
Here’s a little more info about what I’m looking for {and what’s in it for YOU!}:
- Your kitchen or life hacks – What do you do while cooking or while life-ing that saves you time or saves your sanity?
- Your yummy recipes – No copying and pasting. Must be an original or adapted recipe with pictures, ingredient list and directions.
- Your garden pictures and tips – I’d especially like to see your garden set ups, growing areas, and know if you are starting seeds indoors this year. If so, show me some picture of how you are going about it.
- Your pantry pics – Submit at least 5 HIGH QUALITY pictures of your pantry/fridge/cabinets, as well as a short blurb {at the very least} about you and your food habits.
- Your chicken and chicken related stories – Coops, Chicks, Hen’s, Roosters, Eggs, you name it. If it clucks, send us some pictures to share with the world.
- Cool arts & crafts – Made from your very own hands with detailed {and well photographed} pictures and instructions.
- Your pictures and stories about your pets – Show off Fido: the more pictures and details the better.
- Garage sale, thrift store and dumpster diving – Pictures and the stories behind the treasures you found including how much you paid for them.
- Your money saving tips – How do you save? Big savings or little savings, I just want to see your ideas and then your calculated savings {estimates are just fine!}.
Unfortunately I will not be able to share everyone’s submissions, but if I feature your pictures and the stories behind them on One Hundred Dollars a Month, I will send you a $20.00 gift card to: Amazon.com.
Send your pictures with stories via email to onehundreddollarsamonth @ gmail.com {remove the spaces} and be sure and put Mavis Mail in the subject line.
So what are you waiting for? Let’s see what you’ve got…
Until then,
~Mavis

My vegetable garden was a complete bust this year, for unknown reasons. Your garden porn has become my guilty pleasure. Maybe next year I can send in some photos of a beautiful garden, but for this year I’m sure enjoying everybody else’s!

where do you live, Sharon, that you are giving up on your garden already? I’m still planting in mine—had to wait till the ground dried out and warmed up after our record-breaking rainfall—and now its going to be 90′ by this weekend so I will be out watering like crazy and covering my little kale and chard plants so they don’t burn up

I think you must be talking to me, so I’ll answer. My husband plants peanuts for a money crop in our garden, so once peanut season starts, there is NO more vegetable planting! I’m in eastern NC, so it’s been in the 90s here for several weeks, and the planting time is almost over.
It’s OK — my MIL has a garden and just brought me a bag of cucumbers and yellow squash, and a bag of my favorite green beans, so I’m not exactly suffering. I so miss my own tomatoes, though!

I’ve made a memory pillow from a shirt that my dear departed Mother-in-law wore. I machine embroidered the poem to go on it. The poem reads:
When tomorrow
Starts without me
Don’t think we’re far apart
For every time
You think of me,
I’m right there in your heart.
Love, Mom
Is this something you’d be interested in?

I am no longer getting your daily letter. Can’t find where I can sign up again. I have followed you for some years and have learned so much. Keep it up.
