My friend Jen loves to garden and I need plants, so when I found out the fall clearance sale at my local nursery had begun, we decided to hop on the bucket bikes and see if there was anything I needed for the garden.
Fact: There will ALWAYS be something I need for the garden. Ha!
Starting a garden from scratch can be hard, but also a lot of fun. The garden at the new space is pretty small, but that doesn’t bother me one bit. I see small spaces as a fun challenge and I know given a little time, I’m going to rock this one.
Long story short… We found 3 nice sized hibiscus plants. The trip was a success!
And then we passed by a yard that had a bunch of free stuff out front. AND THERE WAS A SACK OF FLATWARE!!! Hot diggety dog! I needed that!
We took it home and ran it through the dishwasher and then sorted our tremendous find.
I’m not sure what we’re going to do with all those spoons… But hey, free flatware!
The next day we went to another nursery to see if they had any of those gorgeous Limelight hydrangeas that I love. {The ones at the first shop looked a wee bit sad so I passed on those.}
We found one in a 5 gallon pot instantly and set it on a cart. As it turned out, it was the last one. Luckily though one of the workers pointed us to where he thought there were a few more smaller {3 gallon} ones.
And yada yada yada, before you know it we had 5 Limelight hydrangeas in our possession and were checking out.
Me and my giant 5 gallon Limelight hydrangea. I LOVE those blooms!
Jen didn’t think they were all going to fit in the car. I told her not to worry, that we would make them fit.
We put the 5 gallon pot in first. 🙂 🙂 🙂
And then the other 4. Piece of cake! Seriously, one should never underestimate what can fit in the back of a station wagon.
After that we went out for ice cream.
And for the second night in a row, we worked on painting and decorating the new studio space. Slowly but surely things are coming along. The garden, the studio, the house.
And that feels pretty good.
Here’s to another adventurous day.

It is such a treat to be brought along for another adventure in homeownership. There is nothing like a good friend to help get things squared away! Can’t wait to see all the progress. That barn space is insane (amazing).

My son was sitting in my lap when I saw the second picture with the beautiful dog. I said, “Oh my! I wonder who that puppy is?” Without missing a beat he said, “It’s Puffy McFluffy!”

Tell us about those buoy’s you’re making.

Recently I took some hydrangea cuttings and just stuck them in a jar of water and wahoo they’re all growing roots. Hopefully they all take and I don’t have to spend a bundle on pl a nts next year.
