When Mrs. HB was in town, priority #1 on her list was to EAT SEAFOOD. 🙂 And so we did. One of the places we visited was the Shuck Station Raw Bar in Newcastle, Maine. And let me tell you Bob, she was not disappointed.
The Shuck Station Raw Bar is on the main drag in the picturesque walking downtown village of Newcastle, and so to add a little privacy for their customers, they created a fence made from oyster and clam shells that separates the eating area from the sidewalk. How clever was that? Seriously, but the repurposing of shells don’t stop there.
They even outlined parking spaces with them too.
Wooden buoys for table numbers… very fun.
Mrs. HB ordered a dozen oysters {a sampling from 3 different oyster growers} and was surprised at the difference in each type.
She also ate something else that was raw… and loved that too.
I had the blackened haddock tacos and French fries with truffle oil and for someone who isn’t a huge fan of seafood, my meal was a total 10 out of 10 and I am already looking forward to going back. {New England… you’re wearing me down!} 😉
The Shuck Station Raw Bar… the food is great, it’s located in a walking downtown and it’s just a hop skip and a jump away from the Damariscotta River… what more could you possibly need?
Maine is AWESOME! You need to come for a visit. What are you waiting for?
Have a great weekend everyone,

The only way to get the shirt is to attend Camp Butterfield. 🙂

Terena says
So how do we add our names to the waitlist?
Ranee says
The other item looks like ceviche. Really looks loaded with seafood. Yum.
Mavis Butterfield says
Yes! That’s what it was. Gaaa. Raw fish.
Mrs HB says
Ms. Mavis it’s wasn’t raw. Ceviche is cooked in lime. The citrus does the cooking . Could be conch , shrimp , fish etc !. The best!!!!!!
Vicki Fetui says
But ceviche isn’t really raw…the acids from the lemon or limes cook it. I still don’t eat it either though!
Rebecca in MD says
Although I do not like raw seafood, I LOVE cooked seafood. I am in Maryland in the Mid-Atlantic, near to the Chesapeake Bay, so I grew up eating lots of seafood. Maine looks like a wonderful place to be, and I am envious of your better summer weather. We often get stretches in the upper 90’s here.
