Hello Wednesday.
This dog! She waits by the door for my mother to come home for her massage everyday and it is HILARIOUS. I don’t think there is a dog out there that gets as much attention as Miss Lucy Puggle. What a life.
On the agenda for today:
- Harvest squash
- Finish up a special order
- Make a delicious chicken soup in the crockpot
- Vacuum and clean the kitchen
- Take a nap {maybe}
- Work on blog posts for Dig for Your Dinner
- Find a new tv series to start watching on Amazon Prime or Netflix {Do you have any suggestions?}
- Visit my brother and bring him an Arby’s roast beef sandwich {Gag, but he wants one, and even if he only takes a bite, who cares?} Special requests are mood lifters. And that’s all I have to say about that.
How about YOU? What are YOUR plans for today?
♥ Mavis

Hi Mavis from Southeast Texas!
We are enjoying another fine day here and I will be puttering about today. I need to run a few quick errands and return some of the grandkids clothes to them and get the house in order. (I babysat while the parents escaped for a few days.) We are new to this area of the country and are figuring out when and what to plant. So far I have stuck with flowers from the ever popular Lowes store. It is sunny and very nice outside with just a cool breeze and no humidity (so far.) We are having a great day so far and I hope that you and the rest of your readers will also be so blessed!
Kristina says
Have you seen The Detectorists? It’s from BBC. Very sweet. Also Cuckoo, BBC too. Season 2 is the best. Don’t need to watch season 1 to enjoy it.
Kathy says
It’s an old one, but classic…The Office. I have been watching it with my son, and I’m realizing again how hilarious that show is. We also went through the whole Friends series this summer. Another old but classic one!
Lisa L says
I recommend “The Vicar of Dibley” on Netflix. A british comedy about a small English town getting a female vicar. Great characters, well written, and not at all preachy.
KAte says
Leverage. It’s on Netflix. It’s about a group of thieves who are the good guys. It’s a great ensamble cast, and it’s almost impossible not to get emotionally invested in the characters.
Martha says
Have you seen Galavant on Netflix?? Fun.
Nancy says
Miss Fisher’s Mysteries is a great series set in Melbourne, Australia in the 1920’s. It’s a fun romp of a detective series with amazing costumes, music and witty dialogue. You’ll just love the main actor and actress with their “will they, won’t they?” tension.
Bernadette says
Agreed. Love “Miss Fisher” — plot, actors, costumes, et al!
Michaela says
Longmire!!
Carrie says
I’m looking for something new to watch on Netflix as well. This year I’ve watched Friends, Black List and Peaky Blinders. I’ve started The Ranch but its not that great – kinda vulgar but it passes the time now that the sun sets at 7.
Thanks for the suggestions!
HunnyWest says
Longmire on Netflix is the best!
Debi says
I second the vote for Longmire.
Jessica says
Have you tried Masterpiece’s Grantchester? It’s a about vicar who helps solve murder mysteries, but each episode ends on a brighter note and the lead character is easy on the eyes. The only down side is that Amazon Prime only has the first season!
RebekahU says
Mavis – I have not read the other comments above but here are a few we’ve enjoyed… Polder. Indian Summers. Call the Midwife. Breathless. Far From the Madding Crowd (a movie – but awesome) Podcasts: Any TED talk is awesome. The new series How I Built This is good. Midsummer Murders is interesting. Don’t forget about longer older movies like Auntie Mame… Take care of yourself. Praying for you.
RebekahU says
Poldark… not Polder!
Laura Z says
Have you seen The Detectorists, Indian Summers, A Place to Call Home, Inspector Morse (a favorite, older series, with John Thaw of “A Year in Provence Fame”), and Poldark? I am totally getting my money’s worth for my Amazon Prime add-on to Acorn TV!
Sophie says
Doc Martin! You will love it! Keep us posted on what you decide to watch! Thank you so much for your fabulous blog!
Diane says
Yes, yes you MUST watch Longmire!
And thank you Mavis for recommending Foyle’s War a while back…we are on Season 6 and love them all.
NCJill says
On Amazon Prime I’d highly recommend “Suits”. It’s at least 6 seasons long (where have I been??) with many episodes per season. It mostly has to do with (very handsome) lawyers in NYC and their many adventures. Hubby and I are watching it together and aside from the occasional language, are loving it.
Kat says
Longmire is a must!
Rosemary & Thyme (A British series with gardening and a mystery)
Broadchurch
Grace and Frankie
Sherlock
Burn Notice
Gilmore Girls
Laura Z says
Broadchurch is a great series, as is Hinterland. Both are dark, but beautifully done.
Kat says
I’ll add Hinterland to my list. Thanks!
Lisa says
Happy Valley and River are some awesome Original Netflix series along the same vein as Broadchurch. I loved both. Gritty, European, with awesome female detectives.
Tracie H says
Stranger Things! We loved it.
