This past week was a busy one around here and we pretty much stayed home and ate out of the freezer. Thank goodness for freezers!!
We had a new roof put on the barn, dropped off more donations to the thrift store and decided on a couch {it should be here by Halloween!}. I also started painting the guest room {which will double as a winter hooking spot} yesterday. I figure I should have the ceiling and trim painted by mid week.
The electrician is supposed to come this week, Kiln Guy and The Chef will be here one day for lunch and we’ve been invited to a lobster potluck as well. BUSY BUSY BUSY. That’s what life is these days. But that’s a good thing.
Although I am looking forward to fall, the cooler temps and slowing down in general, I am really enjoying the weather {and my giant checklist} now that we have a/c. Oh what a difference that makes!
Hot food made a comeback this week, and just in time too because I have been craving some homemade cookies and muffins.
Here’s a peek at what we ate last week:
It was a good week! Not a lot of fruits and veggies, but the HH is planning a trip to Costco this week so I’m hoping he’ll load up on salad kits and fresh produce.
Market Basket $14.31 {Our only purchase of the week.}
How did it goes at YOUR place this past week? Did you find any deals?
I noticed Market Basket has cucumbers on sale 2 for $1 and zucchini for $0.99 a pound. They’ve also got English muffins on sale for $0.99 a 6 pack. That’s the lowest price I’ve seen in a while.
Keep Calm and Carry On.

I love freezers too! Right now, my freezer is full of garden goodies and meals that I prepped. We have both Costco (spent 94.31) and Sams (spent 93.21) – we shopped last Thursday – so we are pretty well stocked up for a while. One of the good deals was the peanut butter at Sams – two 48oz jars for 8.98 – you can barely get one jar for that price at Walmart. The regular price is 10.98 (Costco has it for 10.99). The other great deal was thick cut pork chops – 2.79/lb. at Costco. At Publix they are 4.99/lb. The rest of this month will mainly be fresh fruit and veggies & refrigerated type items.

We stocked up on boneless skinless chicken breasts for $1.49# and beautiful sirloin steak for $5.98 a pound. Got that Sam’s PB deal too. There are more grocery deals than I can fit in my huge freezer right now.

I did a stock up trip to Costco and to Publix. I did all bogos with coupons and rebates at Publix and still spent about $100. No comment on how much Costco took out of my wallet. Anyway….
