So far together we have raised $680 in the $20/$20 Show Your Pantry – Fill a Pantry Challenge! That’s almost $700 in a little over a month! Yep. My readers are pretty cool!
And now the fun part begins: Donating to Food Banks across the North East.
Weather permitting {we are optimists!} The Girl and I will be traveling through Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine in early March on an epic road trip. Our plan is to donate food and cash to the local food pantries in the towns we pass through. So if you live in one of those states and know of a food pantry in your area, please let us know ASAP. The Girl and I would LOVE to stop by and make a donation.
This has been a pretty awesome challenge. Raising money aside, I’ve loved seeing your pantries and storage setups. You guys are pretty inspiring. Keep those submissions coming! This raising money for food pantries is cool, and your photos and submissions are making it happen.
Are you getting your pantries camera ready? You can participate in the $20/$20 Challenge by simply sending in pictures of your pantry. Find out more about the $20/$20 Challenge: Show Your Pantry – Fill a Pantry or check out all the $20/$20 Challenge submissions.

Hi Mavis! If you and the Girl come near New Haven County in CT I’d be happy to show you my pantry and refer you to the local food bank . 🙂

Hi Sandie, What is the name of the food bank in your area?
Sandie Apuzzo says
Community Services Food Pantry of North Haven (my sister works for this town) or Masters Manna of Wallingford which is one I have made many donations to over time. http://mastersmanna.org/about-us/our-history/ Thanks for asking!

If you are coming as far as Midcoast Maine consider Brunswick’s MidCoast Hunger Prevention/Good Shepard Food Bank and Soup Kitchen. They are always in need, especially peanut butter, canned tuna and canned beans.
Mavis says
Jess, thanks for the suggestion. Not sure if we’ll make it there, but we’ll try to put them on our list!

If you’re headed to Maine going up 95, the food pantry we usually work with is Beverly Bootstraps in Beverly, MA.

Even the name is awesome! We’ll try to add it to our list. Thanks!

Freeport’s Community Center does an incredible job serving our community in so many ways. Their food pantry helps so many families.
Mavis says
Thanks for the tip. We’ll try to put them on our list!

I LOVE this challenge! I am in the process of trying to re-organize my kitchen and pantry so I can share what works (finally) for our family. Super great motivation!
Also, I live in New Hampshire and would suggest stopping by the New Durham Food Pantry. Small town pantry doing great work. New Durham is inland in the Lakes Region of the state and is just 10 minutes away from Lake Winnepausakee (the largest lake in the state). Beautiful area, even in the winter! 🙂

Very cool that you’ll be in the New England area!
In my area of CT, also know as The Last Green Valley, there are two organizations that help those in area having a tough time.
The first it Daily Bread in Putnam CT. The other is TEEG, the Thompson Ecumenical Empowerment Group.
It’s amazing what these groups can do with the donations they get. Please consider stopping in.
And enjoy our amazing amount of snow!

Hi Mavis, your blog is my favorite, and, to think, you will be in my area! I can recommend the food pantry at the church where I work, Grace Chapel, in Lexington, Massachusetts. You should visit historic Lexington and Concord anyway, if you can.

Yes – come to Connecticut! The Shoreline Soup Kitchens organization serves many towns between New Haven and Old Saybrook.
Mavis – I know you LOVE Sturbridge Village. I think you will also love Mystic Seaport. It is another “living” museum from the mid-to-late 1800’s depicting a whaling village.
