During the summer months here in Maine there are so many festivals, fairs, concerts and really unique things to do, that it can be overwhelming at times because it feels like there just isn’t enough time in the day to squeeze them all in. And the best part is that so many of the events are free.
It’s like a switch that gets flipped. In winter there really isn’t a lot to do around here. It’s cold and windy and everything is shut down for the season. But come summertime… There is literally something going on every single day from the fourth of July to Labor day.
It’s crazy and fun and I wish there were more hours in the day so we could do them all.
Last Saturday, one of the things the HH and I did was to walk along the Rockland Breakwater to watch the 45th Annual Great Schooner Race. And while the photos from my phone don’t do the tall ships justice, I still wanted to share them.
Life here in Maine is pretty awesome. And I can’t imagine ever wanting to live anywhere else.
On the agenda for today:
- Water the garden {no rain in the forecast for the next 10 days!} 🙁
- Help the HH make a new post for the mailbox
- Make up a few rug hooking kits
- Stop by the farmstand to see if the raspberries are ready
- Make a batch of jam
Sunny skies and a high of 73. Life is good.
Here’s to another beautiful day in Mid-Coast Maine.

Gorgeous. Thank you for sharing the pics of the schooners. Also, thank you for answering the question I never felt I should ask: Are you happy with your decision to move to Maine. It’s a state I definitely wish to explore. My HH and I had a vacation all planned and scheduled to visit Maine, but then a medical emergency came up with our son and we had to cancel. Someday, it will happen.

Looks like such a wonderful event, and so happy you’ve found a place to call “home”.

I saw the Tall Ships in Boston probably 25 years ago. They were fantastic!
