After getting a solid 8 hours of sleep, we started day 2 off at Sandy’s Blue Hill Cafe where Heather got a cappuccino and I had the best London fog I’ve ever had in my entire life. We didn’t stay for breakfast, but the next time I’m in town… I’ll be stopping there… that’s for sure.
This bakery… Tinder Hearth, OH MY WORD. It deserves an entire post {and it will get one next week}.
We bought a loaf of bread and 6 pastries and STUFFED OUR FACES!!!
Then we drove by the cottage I wanted to buy SO BADLY last summer when we were house hunting {but I could’t talk the HH into it}. Granted, it was only 900 square feet… BUT… it was on the water {the perfect spot for launching kayaks} and it already had a pad poured for a 2 car garage {which we totally could have built a studio space above for all my wool}. He couldn’t envision it though and I’m still convinced it could have been awesome.
Then an hour later we waddled through the Blue Hill Farmer’s Market {which is held at the local garden center’s greenhouse during the winter months}. Next time I’ll be prepared and bring a cooler though because they had everything from eggs and meat to veggies. {And a bunch of other delicious foods as well.}
We made the thrift store / antique store rounds again where I found this AWESOME lobster sign.
And then an even better blue one. {Which I am totally going to see if I can recreate because I think it would look great on our living room wall}.
Naked Barbie’s are a dime a dozen these days…
“Vintage” cameras. Weren’t we all using these like 10 years ago?
$175 for the Popsicle lamp in case you were wondering.
Looking for hidden treasures…
And finding a few.
And then we made our way back to the house where I cut out linen for rug hooking patterns and Heather got started on a baby quilt for her nephew.
But before all that I found a rug in one of the rooms that I just had to have for my living room. Luckily the tag was still on the back of the rug and I was able to find it on Amazon and ordered right away. It should be here tomorrow.
The pictures online don’t do the rug justice and I’m so glad I was able to see it in person because I never would have picked it out online. Actually, there were SO MANY design elements in the house Heather and I stayed in that I loved. I took oodles of pictures so I would remember to re-create a few of them in my own home. {If you want to see the home we stayed in, just let me know and I’ll do a house tour so you can see how cool the place was.}
The second night we were there Heather stayed up late sewing {and I went to bed at like 7:30}. 😉
The next day was pajama day and we just hung around the house eating the pastries {and big salad supplies} we bought the day before and watching movies while we worked on sewing projects.
She finished her quilt! And was shocked she was able to get it done {it was only the second quilt Heather has made in her life} in just a weekend.
Good food, a boatload of thrift stores and an entire weekend without any chores. Does it get any better than that? 😉
Wishing you the best of Wednesdays,
~Mavis

Would love to see the house decor where you stayed.
Heather presses her seams open on her quilt. I thought I was the only one who did that. Very nice quilt!
Hoping, hoping that the backsplash tile was finished when you returned home!

Yes in the house tour. That’s always the fun part of staying in a Airbnb.

That house on the water looked so cute! I’d love a tutorial on the quilt. That’s something I haven’t made but want to at some point.

What a fun trip! Please do show the house 🙂 Your husband is silly, that cottage looked amazing. Hope he was able to pick a grout color! Haha

My elderly parents downsized to 950 sq ft. It is a real challenge everyday in a house that small and the kitchen is minuscule. It would drive me nuts. Our lake house is very small but we don’t live there and only have the bare essentials and nothing else and when we come home to our big house I am glad to have room to move around.

Do you know what you can do with all of those naked Barbies? Check out Tree Change Dolls online….super cool.
I’d love to see a house tour.

Love the quilt! Definately would like to see the house you stayed at. Also, if you tell us how you found it and if you had a few to pick from and price, etc. Lots better than a motel/hotel that’s for sure!!

What is a London fog?

We downsized from 2400 sq. feet to 960 sq. feet. We are seniors and moved to something easier to maintain. I have thrown and thrown and thrown and online sold and given to St. Vincent de Paul. I am now going through the last of a 10′ x 10′ storage room. I have to admit, though, it is a freeing experience to get rid of years of junk. Although there are some specialty items we need from time-to-time to cook with, how many pots and pans do you use on a regular basis? How many clothes do you need? We only need a couple of nice outfits for church, concerts, plays, etc. I like the 10-piece wardrobe philosophy the French use. I am farrr from a minimalist, but the less you possess, the less it possesses you.

I think everyone would enjoy the house tour! And those thrift store visits are SO much better with Heather than your husband…he is like most men and just can’t quite see the value and interest there.
