Yesterday the plan was to harvest seaweed from the muddy beach below to add as mulch around our tomato plants. I think I have somewhere in the neighborhood of about 75 tomato plants in the garden so far {with still a few more to plant}.
But after about 2 wheelbarrow loads, I sort of got distracted and shifted from harvesting seaweed, to cleaning up the beach. Or mud flats… whatever you call a muddy shoreline.
A lovely piece of blue foam {future art project?} and an empty bleach bottle.
And a piece of wood that could double as fish with a little paint and hardware {with Kirsty Elson as my inspiration}.
Fireball!!! I can’t escape it.
The final tally was a few buoys, {I kept the small cream colored one} foam, plastic bottles, rope, some sort of filter presumably goes on a tank and a few gloves {I wanted to keep the orange one in hopes that it’s mate would wash up on shore but the HH just rolled his eyes at me}.
We did a beach clean up last year and if I remember correctly, we ended up with about the same amount of trash that had washed up on shore over the winter.
While I was down there, I also collected a wheelbarrow full of driftwood. Now I just need to get it washed up and then dry it in the summer sun before selling it online later this summer.
One of these days I’m going to find something exciting, I just know it. But until then, I guess I’ll just keep my little section of the beach free of debris.
Sunshine and a high of 62 is the forecast for today here in Mid-Coast Maine. Summer is almost here, and I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to soak it up. 🙂
Here’s to a great weekend,

I see an angel’s wings for a primitive doll in that driftwood.
Mavis Butterfield says
Yes! Perfect for angel wings.

I found a message in a bottle once. It was from a schoolboy in North Carolina and part of a class project. It was very exciting.
Mavis Butterfield says
I hope you replied. What a cool thing to find.
Mrs. C. says
I did! This was back in the 80s and I was on a field trip. The message had a number to call and I called it and spoke to a very polite little boy who called me ”ma’am.”
Mavis Butterfield says
I love it!! 🙂

Oh my gosh! I saw the fish in that driftwood before I read your caption. So cool!
