If you are looking for the recipe for the best chocolate chip cookies on earth, you’ve come to the right spot!
Okay, okay. So I realize I have mislead you in the past. And I might have posted a recipe before that I swore was the best chocolate chip cookie recipe on the planet. Well, I lied. Actually, technically it wasn’t a lie because I had never used this recipe before.
And had I baked these babies up, this is the recipe I would have been raving about. Because it’s hands down the best thing you’ll try all week (month? year?). Crispy on the outside, chewy and chocolaty on the inside. Be still my heart.
Do you wanna know the secret ingredient that makes all the difference? Water. Yep, good ol H2O. Who knew?
So now you should probably make these and report back. Do you agree they are the tastiest things ever? If you say no, we can still be friends, I just don’t think you’ll say no. They are that good.
This really is the recipe for the best chocolate chip cookies on earth!
~Mavis
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
1 cup {226 grams} unsalted butter, softened
1 cup {198 grams} granulated white sugar
1 cup {213 grams} packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups {360 grams} all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons hot water
2 cups {340 grams} semi-sweet chocolate baking chips {Ghirardelli are my favorite}
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 F.
In large mixing bowl, mix the butter with the sugars on medium speed until nice and creamy. Add the eggs, one at a time and the vanilla. Mix on low speed until incorporated. Stir the baking soda with the warm water first and then add to the batter. Stir in the baking powder, salt and then gradually stir in the flour into the sugar mixture.
Fold in the chocolate chips. Drop heaping 2 tablespoon-sized balls of dough about 2 inches apart on baking sheets.
Bake for 12-13 minutes or until golden. Remove from oven, let cool and then transfer to a wire rack.

I’m not usually a big fan of chocolate, it just doesn’t make Me feel well
(but I always like to try what I bake) so prior to mixing in all the chocolate chips
I added a few and removed some of the batter and put it aside & then baked these first…I’ve just finished the first cookie

Is this recipe from that cookbook?
I have my standard recipe but I’ll try these out today 🙂

The cookies are fresh out of the oven, and delicious! They didn’t spread, as my chocolate chip cookies usually do. A keeper for sure.

I also made them tonight. I ran out of regular sugar and substituted powered sugar for 1/2 a cup and they still turned out flawless. So delicious, I’m going to take them on a picnic tomorrow.

I might be blind, and maybe a little slow today, but how many does this recipe yield? I am excited to try it out but I have a houseful of big time cookie eaters, so I just want to know how many times I have to multiply it to feed them!

About 24.

Haven’t made these yet, very similar to my tried and true CC cookie recipe. I also was interested in the amount per batch. Thank you for answering that.
Gloria says
Made the dough yesterday and put in refrigerator
I chill all my cookie dough before baking
I took it out of the refrigerator just prior to preheating the oven
They did not spread and I got 91 smaller cookies
Perfect size
Delicious chewy center crispy edges

These cookies are AWESOME! I have some oatmeal I’m looking to use has anyone tried subbing some of the flour for oats?
Catherine Dilworth says
I tried doing that once in a chocolate chip cookie, not this one, and I could taste the oatmeal flour. I wouldn’t do it again. The author claimed that the addition of some oatmeal flower would give a better texture and the taste would be undetectable, but I noticed it.

Can you tell me if it’s supposed to be salted or unsalted butter? Thanks!
Mavis Butterfield says
Unsalted. 🙂

These cookies are delicious!! I typically make the Hershey’s chocolate chip cookies recipe from scratch, and stumbled upon this recipe, and decided to give it a whirl. Absolutely fantastic! As everyone mentioned, the cookies did not spread. Nice and soft with a crunch on the outside. Will make these as my go to recipe. Thank you! 🙂
