This is a guest post written by my buddy Heather from Massachusetts. She typically posts about her garden chores over on the east coast, but she’s changing things up a bit today!
The first ray of sunshine in the long New England winter is always the Boston Flower and Garden Show held downtown Boston at the Seaport World Trade Center. Sure there are piles of dirty snow still in the roads and the overcast skies never fail to spittle rain on us. But as my daughter and I crowd through the front door with dozens of other mom-and-daughter duets we were rewarded with the sweet, sweet shot of spring we all craved.
The burst of colors, moisture and smells were enough to make us swoon. And swoon we did.
The room was broken up into three portions. The front was landscape design, the middle was vendors, and the third was artwork.
Cranberries bogs in this area are the corn of the Midwest. From the air there are maroon rectangles everywhere! Ocean Spray had a booth at the flower show and was handing out snack packs of cranberries – yumm! Boston Flower and Garden Show fuel.My daughter found a garden box display, strategically and perfectly aligned plants. This is always my goal, of course, but I always end up with a few extra plants and cram them in helter-skelter.
Check out these nifty salad-growing contraptions, I think if I was a city dweller who lived in a high-rise apartment I would totally buy one.
Do have a little neighbor, daughter, niece or grandbaby who is into fairies? Check out these fairy houses! Unbelievable right?
There were a couple of vendors filled with potted plants in all shapes and sizes for our desperate, cabin-fevered brains. My daughter couldn’t resist and snagged a pretty little cactus for a few dollars.
And last but not least, the latest and greatest in floral fashion design 😉
Aaaah spring, I’ll be waiting for you in my party dress.
