On Monday the cabinet guys came and installed the custom panels on both the refrigerator and dishwasher.
Now we just need some countertops and an AGA stove and we’ll be all set.
The countertops {Churchill soapstone} should be installed by mid November and as for the AGA cooker, the appliance guy said it should be in around the END OF MAY.
Hopefully the second one makes it here undamaged.
The custom panel on the dishwasher.
If we just had some plumbing in the kitchen we could use the thing.
I’m still trying to figure out what to put on the floating shelves. Luckily though the shelves are about 45” wide so there’s plenty of room for our everyday dishes and glasses.
I think once the countertops are in I’ll use the bottom space for the coffee maker and electric kettle.
The new spice rack has been installed as well. I’m hoping to transfer all my spices {currently in various shapes and sizes} into similar sized jars today.
Yesterday the HH hung the roman shade and was planning on installing the new kitchen light, but when he opened the box and pulled everything out, he noticed the installation bracket was missing {of course it was}.
So now we’ll have to wait for that part to arrive.
The new kitchen… It’s getting there. One piece at a time.
I just wish I didn’t have to wait until next June to have it all done.
But hey, now I can at least bake bread, right? 🙂

Could you post a link to your kitchen light? I remember really liking it when you posted about it before and I did a search and could not find it. Thanks so much! What a crazy aga saga you are on!
Mavis Butterfield says
I think this is the one. But in matte black. https://oldebricklighting.com/products/ryttenberg-clear-cord

The kitchen looks great so far. I know it’s coming part and parcel, but I’m sure when it’s done it’ll be worth it.
Karen says
Will you add a back splash to add a little color and protect the walls?
Mavis Butterfield says
Yes, there will be a soapstone backsplash. 🙂
Annette says
Just curious why you bought a Roman shade. I thought you did a tutorial on how to make one.
Mavis Butterfield says
I never want to make another Roman shade again. 🙂

What refrigerator do you have? Is it a single column freezerless? I was wondering because of the single panel.
Mavis Butterfield says
Yes, it is just a refrigerator. No freezer. We wanted something simple and loved the shaped of it.
Michelle says
Mavis, do you happen to remember what brand and/or shade of white paint you used in your kitchen? We’re getting ready to repaint our house interior, and who knew there were so many shades of white! Yours looks lovely! Do you use the same shade on your ceilings?
Mavis Butterfield says
Benjamin Moore chantilly lace for the walls and ceiling. The cabinets are the same color. 🙂
Michelle says
Thank you so much!

Everything looks beautiful so far. I am so sorry the dream stove was delivered damaged.
I know you will make the best of the situation until the new stove is installed. I have a spice rack on the back of my pantry door too and I love, love, love it. I just use small mason jars for my spices, herbs, etc. I’m sure yours will be functional and pretty too.

What you have so far is beautiful. You just can’t beat white!!!!!! You are a great example of patience. This experience has been a doozy! Glad you didn’t sell your old stove. Could the HH put some plywood across the top of the counters to give you a little work space?
So, mid November you will have counter tops and plumbing! You must be giddy at the thought.
Mavis Butterfield says
I suggested it already but my husband said no to the plywood idea.
Janice says
Oh, my… the clean lines and having the appliances blend in so well… I LOVE your cupboards!
Kippy says
It looks fabulous! When will the plumbing be done? I wonder if AGA has a Canadian wholesaler who might have the color you want in stock or know of a place that does. May is way too far away.
debbie in alaska says
I’m guessing the answer is no – but does AGA give you a discount or anything for the damage and delay. Up here in SE Alaska our Home Depot takes a minimum of 12 weeks for any appliance to arrive — and often they are damaged and you have to order again and hope for the best. It took us over a year to get a fridge, The first one got ordered and cancelled due to delays 3 times! We finally gave up and ordered a slightly different model for half the price and got it 3 months later — for a total of a year plus.
Mavis Butterfield says
Nope. We were refunded and had to start the whole process over again.
Patti Vanderbloemen says
Beautiful! I just replaced my island counter with soapstone…best decision I ever made!
Happy baking to you!
Judi Y. says
It’s beautiful!!!!!
Joanna says
Judi is right ….. It’s beautiful !!!! God Bless the HH !!
Sarah says
Just out of curiosity, was there a reason why you didn’t paint the spice rack white as well?
Linda Practical Parsimony says
I love the choice of flooring, looks great. lol…jk. What floor covering will you have? That would make me nuts not having a counter surface on which to work.
Kathy says
PLYWOOD IS FABULOUS!!! Thats what I am living with till quartz countertop is installed in 2ish weeks. We used old doors and shelves. Works great. Have been cooking with my toaster oven and single eye hot plate since August. Not too bad. Can’t wait for the sink and running water in the same room!!!
Vicki in Birmingham says
I have thought about this a few times since you ordered your AGA…why does it take so many months from ordering it until it is delivered? Do they make it after it is ordered? Just curious.
Mavis Butterfield says
AGA cookers are built to order. If I lived in the UK the delivery time would be less, but getting it shipped to the US takes a lot longer.
Cheryl says
Beautiful! Sleek, simple lines in a crisp white. What more could you ask for? 🙂 Love the wide floorboards. You have a good eye.
Carla says
First time seeing your blog about your kitchen. It’s beautiful! May I ask for the info on your floors? The color and width is gorgeous!!
Mavis Butterfield says
They are old pine floors we sanded and then used Bona Nordic seal on them.
