Yesterday for date day {the HH and I plan on going on at least dates 26 this year} we went to the Thomaston Cafe in Thomaston, Maine for lunch.
Some friends of ours kept going on about how good the food was there and so we finally decided to stop in and check the place out.
The doors had just opened when we got to the Thomaston Cafe so it was just us and two other couples but the cafe was well furnished and had a welcoming and cozy feel to it and we felt right at home.
Our server brought us menus and we were both pleasantly surprised at the selection and the prices.
While we were waiting for our meal, we looked around a little more and noticed that each table had a set of different salt and pepper shakers on them and many of the things {clocks, pictures} on the walls were for sale as well.
That seems to be pretty common up here in Maine… displaying and selling artwork right off the walls. I love that! 😉
The HH ordered the bacon brie burger.
And I had a tomato, bacon and grilled cheese sandwich. Both meals were fantastic as was the service and atmosphere and without a doubt, we’ll be back.
The Thomaston Cafe in Thomaston, Maine. It’s just another reason to visit this great state!
Have a great day everyone,

Mavis,
Those prices are pretty pricey on the menu. I know that you are pretty thrifty. I am surprised that you did not touch on that subject. The plates look delicious though.

$11 for a grilled cheese with tomato and bacon, plus yummy fries and a local pickle in a sit down establishment with real silverware did not seem pricey to me. Neither did my husband’s brie burger with fries, and pickle. Both meals were high quality and well made. We know someone who eats fast food {burger, fries} for about $18 a day. Now that seems pricey to me.

My upstairs neighbor owns the café, and I hope she sees your wonderful review. She is a welcoming host who really cares about her customers. Thanks for sharing!
