You probably already know this… but I LOVE shopping at thrift stores!!! Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but when you are looking for inexpensive items to furnish your house, the prices can’t be beat.
Yesterday I scored a twin bed frame, 2 dining chairs and a picture for the guest bathroom all for a little over $19. I plan on painting the chairs and bed frame white. I still need to find 2 sets of bed rails for the twin bedframes {I found another twin bed frame a few months ago} and then all I need is a floor lamp for the living room and 3 more chairs for the dining room and I am finished furnishing this place. Giddy up!
Oh, and I also picked up a stack of magazines for $0.25 each {to read on the plane ride home} a seasucker sheet $0.50 {which I plan to use as a quilt back} and a wooden masher $0.75 I’ll be using for a future craft project.
Let’s talk about the Amish bakery, shall we? It’s not a bakery in the sense there is a store front, but rather a small room alongside the “buggy shop” down a long road. The hidden treasure offers home baked goodness and the occasional fresh vegetables. I stop by EVERYTIME I’m here and load up. If I had to guess, 10 customers on any given day, would be a very busy day for the shop.
It makes my heart happy to buy from the Amish lady. And, she bakes the best bread on the planet. This time, she was telling me how to save the pepper seeds so I could grow them in my garden next summer. I already know how to save seeds…. but I listened anyway and told her about my heirloom Lakota squash {which she had never heard of} and promised to mail her some seeds when I cracked it open. Gaaa! Maybe I’ll have a new pen pal.
And then there was my trip to the Farmer’s Market on Saturday. All homegrown, all organic and all for $9. I WANT TO LIVE HERE 24/7/365.
Homemade butternut soup, homemade bread, home grown peppers and fresh mozzarella.
Seriously. Does it get any better than this?

My son just started at Millersville University which is only 15 minutes from Lancaster. It is a beautiful area. We stopped at a farm stand and bought peaches, greens beans, tomatoes, and the nicest green peppers I have seen. Cheryl

Mavis that looks like an Ethan Allen maple headboard. My family had one in a double size. GREAT score!

I love the Road Side Stands also. I stopped last week and bought 2 large onions, peaches, apples to cook w/ dumplins, and small white potatoes for boiling….

Love Amish baking! I grew up in Western PA Amish country. We were just home this summer and passed some Amish in their buggies on the road, but I guess that was in NY.
That farmer’s market loot looks amazing

You would love the Niagara Region in Ontario. There’s a ton of road side stands and fruit farms! We’re in peach season right now.
