Last night was a rough one. I went to bed around 7 with a fever and chills. No matter what I did {heating pad, layered clothing, 4 blankets} I couldn’t get warm. I woke up about 30 times, tossing and turning. I was hot, then cold, then had to make a run for the bathroom.
Early this morning I passed out in the bathroom. Luckily I knew it was going to happen and was able to get low to the ground. The HH found me and then slowly walked me back to bed.
So I’m taking the day off. To sleep.
Let’s hope this is just a 24 hour thing because I feel awful. 🙁
~Mavis

Oh Mavis!!! I’m SO SORRY!! Please feel better soon! I got sick about a month ago, feeling similar. It helped to lay out in the sun, it was a way of warming me through my aching bones. Drink your tea, keep your fluids up, cuddle Lucy, and REST. We will all be waiting for you when you are better.
Signed,
Another Mavis Groupie

Sometimes summer sicknesses can be the worst. Take good care of yourself and if you symptoms don’t abate today go see your doctor.
Jean Ink says
Mavis – Please, please do a thorough tick check. If you find one, or if you’ve had a tick bite earlier this summer, don’t count on a bull’s-eye rash to be your clue. A lot of people don’t have that.
Hoping this is just a regular old flu – not Lyme disease, or any other serious thing. Hoping you feel much better quite soon!
Jean
Carol says
Jean, you are absolutely right! I didn’t even think of that.
Mavis, rest and know we will be here when this is all behind you!
Hugs to your HH for taking good care of you, too. 🙂
Dev says
Lyme is what came to my mind because your feeling sick., fever and fainting was exactly what happened when I had Lyme. Be sure to check because there are several nasty tick born diseases. I ended up with meningitis. Good luck and feel better.
Tracy says
Not that it is entirely impossible, but Mavis lives in Western Washington t and we do not have Ticks here. (That I know of) Unless she has been traveling then it could be that.
Rosaleen says
Yes, feel better soon AND consider Lyme disease if you don’t get better quickly. It is an elusive and tricky thing. As said earlier, many people never show the bulls’ eye rash but do have Lyme. I usually hear headache as one of the symptoms.
Chris M says
So sorry, Mavis! I wondered if you were traveling or something when nothing showed up this morning. Please get better!

Try oscillococcinum for flu and flu like symptoms. I take it at the first sign of feeling wonky and it works for me; that is it keeps me from developing full onset of flu symptoms.

I absolutely agree with Rosaleen and Jean about being checked for Lyme’s. It’s nothing to fool around with. Luckily, (if u can call it luck?!), both times I had it, I had the bulls-eye. Argue with your doctor about getting tested if u need to – undetected Lyme’s can really mess u up.
Candice C. says
Will keep you in prayer. Get plenty of rest and don ‘t allow yourself to get dehydrated. Suck on ice chips if you can’t keep down fluids.

Oh Mavis,
I wish I was there to smooth (smoof) your brow and get you cool drinks. That’s what my Mom used to do for us kids (5 of us) when we were sick. I did it for my kids too, now ages 31 and 30. It didn’t really do much but it was great moral support. I hope you’re better soon.

Hope you have a down blankie and a cashmere sweater to keep you warm, while you “chill” out in our lovely hot weather. Wow, you need to put a fainting couch in that big bathroom you remodeled. So sorry you got hit by something. At least you have 3 people and your pug to take care of you and cook and make tea for you. Maybe you are suffering from tea deficiency from last month. Get well, I miss your cheery overly optimistic way.
Debi says
Hope you feel better. Take care as we understand why you don’t or can’t blog. Your health is more important.

Hope you feel better real soon Mavis. I been dealing too with red ants from my garden. I had an allergic reaction so am still dealing with random hives. I think the worst of it is the prednizone they have me taking.. I makes you feel very strange. Hope all turns out well for you soon. And if you have any red ant tips, I would love to hear them.
