Cupid’s mother was Venus, his father was either Mars or Mercury.

His mother was Venus, but his father is a mote point! Some assumed Vulcan, as the husband of Venus, was his father. Others believed there were many “cupids.” The Venus and Mars came about as allegory, as then it would be Love and War.
I thought Valentine’s day had many of its origins in the Roman festival of Lupercalia, Feb. 15?
