Author Barbara Walsh recently came out with a book, The Lobster Lady: Maine’s 102-year-old Legend and last night we got the chance to not only meet the author, but the Lobster Lady herself, Virginia Oliver of Rockland, Maine.
You may remember me mentioning Virginia {Or Ginny as her friends call her} last year when the story of her 9 decade long lobstering career made the news all over the world.
Well Virginia, she’s still out there on the water, lobstering with her son Max three days a week and loving life. All her children live nearby and when she’s not busy lobstering, she’s busy in the kitchen baking up treats for her kids.
While we were at the talk/book signing we also learned of a short film filmmakers Wayne Gray and Dale Schierholt made about The Lobster Lady and I thought you’d all want to know about it.
Virginia Oliver, what an inspiration! I’m so glad we got to meet her.
Here’s to a wonderful weekend,
~Mavis

What a treat! I had seen her before on one of the national shows, but thoroughly enjoyed the longer movie. She is truly amazing, including driving off in that big truck! Thanks for sharing! Also impressed with how agile the 76-year-old son was, walking along the edge of the boat!
