These Rice Krispie treats are perfect for summer.
Oh how I wish I had little kids for make these for. I think they’d be so much fun to make and bring to a Fourth of July BBQ. But hey, Rice Krispie treats are fun and delicious—no matter how old you are, right? 😉
These are quick, easy and oh so fun to make!

Watermelon Rice Krispie Treats
Ingredients
9 Cups Rice Krispies
{2} 10 ounce Bags of Marshmallows
6 Tbsp Unsalted Butter
Red and Green Food Coloring
1 Tbsp Mini Chocolate Chips
Instructions
Butter the insides of {2} 9 inch cake pans and set aside.
Start by making the green outer layer.
Mix 4 cups marshmallows and 3 tbsp butter in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave one minute at a time, stirring each time to combine, until thoroughly melted and smooth.
Stir in 4 cups Rice Krispies. Add green food coloring one drop at a time, stirring as you do, until you reach desired color {or, just go for it and squeeze half a tub in the bowl like I do}.
Press half of the mixture into each cake pan using the back of a buttered spoon, creating an outer ring. Leave a center circle open for the red layer of Rice Krispies.
Repeat the steps above to make the red Rice Krispies, only this time using 5 cups marshmallows, 3 tbsp butter, and 5 cups Rice Krispies. Again, add red food coloring until desired color.
Press half of the red mixture into the center of each cake pan, and sprinkle red with mini chocolate chips {to look like seeds}.
Allow the treats to sit for at least 30 minutes before slicing into triangles.

These are SO CUTE! I think I’ll make some for the pot-luck we’re going to. I might have to double this recipe for that! I’m not sure I have enough round pans, but if not, I’ll just cot a rectangular one in diagonals! Even wonky crispy treats are yummy!

They made these on Home and Family on the Hallmark Channel this week. They added 2 individual drink flavor packets. Kiwi for the green and watermelon for the pink. I made them for the 4th, and they turned out great. My grandkids are going to love them!
