Does anyone have a gee tar, a black sharpie and a piece of cardboard I can borrow? Because pretty soon here I’ll be singing the blues.
I was able to double some coupons for the Velveeta mac & cheese and the Seattle’s Best Iced coffee that was on sale at Albertsons last week and ended up getting everything for free. I haven’t tried the mac & cheese yet and I doubt I will. If The Girl doesn’t want it… then I’ll be adding it to the donation bin. The iced coffees however will go to the HH’s lunch box.
During the mac & cheese transaction I earned a $5 reward (store coupon) for using my Albertsons preferred card. And it’s a good thing too… Because I’m running low on funds. 🙂
Thanks to the $10 off store coupon I earned last week and the $5 off Albertsons preferred card coupon, I only had to pay $3.05 for all those groceries. I know I should totally be making my own bread by now, but I keep making excuses. Seriously, everyday I say to myself I think I’ll bake some bread today… but it never happens. I’m not exactly sure what I’m waiting for. Maybe a blizzard. But then again, if there was a blizzard I’d probably just put on my footed pajamas and stay in bed all day and read books.
I also split a 40lb box of chicken with my neighbor (we each paid $29.80 for 20lbs). With all the food in the freezer, I know I shouldn’t be buying anymore meat. If anything… I should be shooting squirrels out back or trapping Ricky Racoons or something… but buying chicken… I think I must have lost my mind there for a few hours. In hindsight I should of saved my $29.80 to buy milk. Crap. Now what am I going to do?
Total Spent OOP this week: $32.85
Total Spent Year To Date: $1,179.31

1) Bread machine. I got mine for $5 at a garage sale. Put ingredients in and press a button. Yay!
2) You have done an AMAZING job. Going a little over is okay, since it was a goal–and seriously in this case, “close” counts. Totally.
3) If all else fails–just round your total. 😉 It might help you sleep at night, lol! Estimating is *totally* okay!
hahaha, all kidding aside–what you have done is truly inspirational. Whether its $1200 or $1214.32 for the year, you have been a joy to follow and helped many of us see where to cut back while still eating like kings. 😉 Even though I live in Coupon Wasteland, USA–I have learned a lot from your blog! Keep your head up, almost to the finish line! And enjoy that chicken!!

I scored a Zojirishu bread machine at the Goodwill on half price Friday for $7. Made two loaves of bread so far so dang easy I wonder why I procrastinated so long about getting one of these new fangled machines?! Oh now I remember cuz procrastination is fun. …definitely make time for bread making. You bought all that chicken so you can make chicken soup during the winter silly. You are doing an amazing thing by letting others learn from you. Almost to the finish line get your kick ready! Robin in SoCal

Take some of the money you have left and set it aside for milk. That Albies gift card has to come at some point. Does amazon sell powder milk? Hillbilly dot com has some great recipes for using up that stuff. Definitely don’t try to gag it down. Maybe you could water down your milk by just a cup or so to make it last longer (weird, I know).
Hang in there you are almost done. You are such an inspiration to me. This month by the 15th I only had $20 bucks left and you know what I still have $11 and plan on buying my necessities for the rest of the month today…milk, bread, cheese (my HH and oldest son think it’s a necessity), and pretzels so I can make a special treat for halloween. Thanks Mavis for inspiring US.

Thanks for the laughs. Life is hard a bit right now here and I appreciate your humor. Secondly, how about some quick breads? Muffins, popovers, biscuits, quick breads? Easier than yeast breads, and still good with meals (minus most of the trouble). Lastly, thanks for your reply – as mentioned I’m working on my own goal right now. It will still be challenging with having food allergies I think, and not being able to rely on more coupon foods. Unfortunately, a few things have to be purchased at Whole Paycheck, and I’m sure you know how expensive that can be. I’m going to give it my best shot though! (I like a good challenge!) 🙂

Providing inspiration – I always get kind of a thrill at the end of the month when I have to stretch the last of the budget money. I always think why don’t I do that at the beginning and put aside a bit of the money? I am amazed by what you are doing!
Oh…..just got a new cookbook – “More With Less” IT IS AWESOME! The things you can make with very little…………it’s good. And all three of my kiddos have enjoyed most of the recipes – they are 5, almost 4 and 2.
