This week I had 3 transactions. I actually DO BELIEVE I can make it to the end of the year without going over budget if I really apply myself. Or is it distract myself? Hmm. I think distraction is going to be key in the upcoming weeks ahead.
Here is the skinny on what I bought this week:
Last week Plum District was offering a deal on Omaha Steaks for $59. 2 filet mignon, 2 pork chops, 4 chicken breasts, 6 burgers, 8 weenies, and 6 stuffed baked potatoes all shipped on a block of dry ice (the best part according to Monkey Boy). Now maybe $59 is a great deal for a normal person… But for Mavis… not so much. Luckily I had $40 in Plum District credit plus I found a secret 30% coupon code I was able to use. So guess how much I paid? C’mon guess. Alright, I’ll tell you. After the coupon code and credit I paid $1.30! 🙂 Not too shabby if you ask me.
Then there was my trip to Walmart. Blech. I am not a fan of Walmart… But desperate times call for desperate measures. I have found I’m willing to shop with Nascar fans walking around in their pajamas who are screaming at their kids and driving motorized scooters just so I can use a coupon.
In this past Sundays paper there was a $2 off ANY SIZE Tide coupon in the P&G insert. The Tide packets were only $.97 each+tx. I did 2 identical transactions:
Milk $2.68
Bread $1.25
4 Tide packets $4.21 w/tx
Final Price: $.14 after coupons! Holy crackers! Pass me a tater tot Bertha… that is a goooood deal.
So basically I paid $.28 for 2 gallons of milk, 2 loaves of crappy bread and 8 packets of Tide (the Tide will be donated). The thing is … there is a big controversy over the Tide coupon. So I guess I won’t be using it again. 🙁 Boo Hoo. I’m totally bummed, I love Walmart overage.
Oh well, shopping at Albertsons with a few doubles coupons is not a bad deal either. Everything in the photo was free with coupons with the exception of having to pay $.50 tax on my free Dawn dish soap. As it turns out… the HH really likes the Velveeta mac & cheese cups. He kinda freaked out a little when he saw them on the counter. Have you tried these yet? They are REALLY good. How many did you get? 😉
Total Spent This week: $2.08
Total Spent Year To Date: $1181.39
Go Mavis Go!

I think you should be able to use the coupons – the product is their product – has Tide all over it. It sounds like they are looking for a loop hole since people are using it for the smaller packages. It also seems to me that they are just warning people that there is the possibility that the store will not accept them (saying that the store reserves the right to allow them or not). So if the store is willing to accept them, then isn’t that okay??? Just wondering…

p.s. I think that you’ll make it, but even if you don’t, you’re still a rockstar!!!

You are a legend…
Is this going to include holiday meals? I’m sure…knowing YOU, you’ve been preparing all along…storing away…you’ve probably got 5 turkeys in the freezer…or you’re raising one…and growing your own sweet potatoes…!
Mavis says
I don’t have a turkey… yet.

I would LOVE to start couponing but I don’t know where to start. How do you double coupons? I read your blog every week and am blown away, what an inspiration.

How tasty is the Omaha meat that comes frozen?

Hi, new reader here (had a read through your whole blog though, because I apparently don’t need to sleep at night/have nothing better to do). I think you can do it too. Thanks for being such an inspiration to spend less!
