Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise. ~ Benjamin Franklin
With the sun shining through our windows at 5 am these days, it’s hard to sleep in. Then again, it’s hard to stay up past 8 or 9 pm lately because we’re practically falling into bed with exhaustion every night.
Which is a good feeling I might add as it sort of makes up for all those “pajama days” I took over the long and cold winter.
Places are starting to open up around here, and finding the balance between getting all the outdoor projects we want to get done this summer and enjoying all that the great state of Maine has to offer, is a bit tricky.
On the list for this weekend:
- Check out the Camden Farmers Market
- Check out the new bakery that just opened a few towns over
- Make a batch of rhubarb cinnamon jam
- Finish listening to The Lask Bookshop in London
- Finish the rug I started last night
- Squeeze in a nap
I also need to:
Haul all the good stuff from the lasagna garden over to the new religious family veg patch, and add a few more amendments. Then have the HH go over it one more time {in the other direction to mix everything in} with his tractor.
Once that’s done, I’ll move the raspberry canes and blueberry bushes from the kitchen garden to the new plot.
There is so much to do. And such a small window of opportunity to get it all done. I feel like if I don’t stay on task, I’ll fall behind.
I love living here in Maine with its distinct seasons. It’s so much easier to live in the moment, to soak it all in and appreciate your surroundings somehow.
So here’s to a productive weekend. One filled with aching bones and feeling of accomplishment at the day’s end.
Have a good one,
~Mavis

You should keep an eye out for a little religious themed gnome (remember when you delivered all the gnomes) as a mascot for your new garden!

I love it that you’re calling it “the religious family vegetable garden.”

Today in Wyoming we have snow flurries and everyone has covered their gardens and flowers. Were not even in the moutains. Just to let you know what joy you bring with your blog. I have seen places and learned so much. Thank You.

Yesterday’s blog post was so funny that I sent it to several friends & family members. I read it to my hubby last night for another laugh. Religious family vegetable garden is a great name for the new garden site! Ha! Love it!!!

Do you get rain all year or do you need to add drip, etc for your gardens?
