The great thaw has begun here in Maine and it’s been fantastic I tell you, just fantastic.
Yesterday I was able to walk out the door and take Lucy for a walk and not have to worry about slipping on a patch of ice.
We have finally turned a corner here in Southern Maine and it feels so good! Putting on sneakers to go outside rather than clunky snow boots is a good feeling. Warmer days… Are finally on the way. Which if you’ve been living in a frozen tundra for the past few months is something to be excited about. 😉
I have big plans for this weekend… Well not “big” in the exciting way but big in the let’s get er’ done kind of way.
Cut and bundle wool.
I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get it all done {the HH is going to help with the cutting} but I’ll give it my best effort.
Finish giant whale rug #1.
I just have one section {about 22” x 10” left}. Then I’ll need to steam it and finish the edges. I’ve been working exclusively on this rug for about 5 weeks so it will be nice to be able to start on something else.
Draw out giant whale rug #2.
I am super excited about giant whale rug #2. My original goal was to have it hooked by the end of the month. I wonder if I can do that. It’s bigger than the one I’m currently trying to finish up.
Start a tray of lavender seeds.
I LOVE growing lavender!!! I think a border of English lavender along {what will be} the side garden path would be beautiful. Lavender plants are expensive to buy, so growing it from seed is the way to go.
Dig out and set up my grow lights.
Grow lights make such a big difference when it comes to seed starting. I just don’t know where I’m going to set everything up yet.
Seed starting was so much easier at the last place with all that open space and those windows. Here it’s going to be a little more tricky. Oh well, I’ll figure it out. I have a bunch of room in the barn… Maybe I’ll start there first. It won’t be as warm as the house, but I don’t think it will freezing in there either.
So those are my weekend plans… Wool and garden projects. {Shocking, I know}.
How about YOU? What will you be up to this weekend? Will you get to stay in your jammies? If you’re not busy… Do you want to help me bundle some wool? HA HA HA.
Have a great one, stay warm.

This weekend we are having our side yard prepped to get ready for a massive swing set to be installed later this month. I’m very excited to finally have outdoor play space.

That is very exciting!!! Swings are the best. I’m sure it will get a lot of use over the years. I had one in my backyard when I was a kid and it was so much fun.

Are you winter sowing this year? This should allow you to expand your seed starting area outside. I have a five shelf wire rack on wheels I setup my inside starts on. I think mine came from amazon and was under a hundred dollars.

I’m starting more seeds today, then going to dinner with friends. Nothing too exhausting! Lol
I have always started my seeds in my basement which stays a constant 58-60 degrees,
under grow lights but a few years ago I came upon those heat mats that plug in and fit perfectly under the seed trays.
Game changer I tell you!! They germinate and grow so much better then before!!
Happy weekend Mavis!! ✌

I should look into some heat mats. Good idea Judy.

That view with your seed starts breaks my heart. I’d miss it so much.
But it seems you are not the sort to linger in the past; you always are looking forward to conquering The Next Thing. That’s a good way to go.
