Yesterday I spent most of the day in the backyard. I’ve decided if I’m going to grow 2,000 lbs of veggies this summer, I’m going to need more room. Since the Handsome Husband won’t allow me grow a sprawling vegetable garden in the front yard, this means I have to clear land on the back forty. It’s a good thing I have plenty of Advil in the cupboard. I’m going to need it. Clearing brush and pulling up roots it hard work. Luckily the forecast for the next 5 days is sunny with highs in the mid 50’s.
I was bale to get head start on my weekend project Friday afternoon. I removed all the brush from beneath a large cedar tree and trimmed the low hanging limbs.
Now all I need to do is come up with a shade loving plants {maybe Hostas} to grow here.
What am I planning for this weekend? Well, today’s project is going to take a little more effort on my part. In fact I may need to call in the Handsome Husband for back up. I need to clear a 20’x 20′ area to make room for my new project {more on that later}. But there are 2 trees and some old stumps in my way.
Do I want to ask the HH to break out the chainsaw to remove the trees? It’s a tough call. The only reason I hesitate to ask is because of what happened last time he used his chainsaw. He nearly severed his leg. Yikes! Maybe I should alert the neighbors first and tell Mr. Hillbilly and Chino the Handy Man they are on call today in case he hurts himself again.
Wish us luck!
