I popped by Haggen after visiting the library last week to use the last of my $5 off a $25 purchase coupons. I clipped a few coupons for their sale items {cottage cheese $2.49, yogurt $1,99, Ritz Crackers $1.88, Apple Juice $0.99, Tomato Soup $0.69 and Sweet potato fries $1.99} and made my way to the checkout.
I handed over my $5 off coupon first and then the in ad coupons. I didn’t realize the grocery/coupon ad was for 2 weeks {some of the coupons were for last week and some were for this week} but the checker said it was a common mistake and pushed all the coupons through. Kinda goofy if you ask me. I wish they would just make all the coupons good for two weeks to avoid the confusion but oh well, I’m glad the checker did that so I didn’t have to go back another day.
Rye flour, oats, dried dates and popcorn from the bulk bins.
Tuna $0.59 per can, day old Rolls $0.99 {was $2.99}, Pasta $0.79 each and a box of Cream of Wheat for FREE. There was an in ad coupon for the Cream of Wheat {$1.69} but the in ad coupon didn’t work for some reason and so the cereal rang up wrong. As I was leaving the store I checked my receipt and noticed the error and went back to get a refund. Albertsons has a policy that if the price rings up wrong… you get the item for free for bringing it to their attention {so they can fix it in the computer system} and that’s how I ended up with a free box of Cream of Wheat.
More Fresh Eggs from Mrs. Hillbilly
I think from here on out I’ll be trading chard for eggs. 😉 Yee-Haw!
Some of the Foods I made this past week
Homemade tortillas are the bomb diggety. Once you make tortillas from scratch, you’ll never go back to store bought again. We enjoyed both beef soft tacos and cheese quesadillas.
Pot roast, sweet potato cups {I’ll post the recipe soon} and garden salad from our garden.
Sunday scramble.
I also tried a recipe I found for pumpkin snickerdoodles {I’ll post the recipe tomorrow} and made honey caramel corn, had General Tso’s Chicken with rice and whipped up some spaghetti with homemade pasta sauce.
And last but not least, the HH and I went on a lunch date. I had a buy 1 get 1 burger coupon for Lunchbox Laboratory and let me tell you Bob, they were delicious! We rarely go out to eat so it was a nice treat.

Some great scores and your meals sound delish.
I made homemade tomato soup and canned it this year. So awesome I don’t think we’ll ever eat Campbell’s again.

I had the best time grocery shopping last week because I didn’t have to! But I will say $2.90 for a 10 pound bag of leg quarters is a hot digity ubber awesome buy that my sister and mom picked it up for me. 14 of those puppies in the bag,, 12 frozen, 2 in the my small slow cooker for soup/chicken stock.

I love your shopping days. I *almost* hit Albertson’s for the tuna and pasta, but just didn’t have the energy. Hopefully I’ll catch the next one.
I love your meals this week too – but honestly, I’d love to try homemade tortillas, just no time for it!

Fred Meyer has almonds for $5.99 a pound this week as part of their customer appreciation week. I’ve never purchased nuts from the bulk bin. Any of who has? Not a bargain if they are stale.

Man, shouldn’t type when tired. Should be is there anyone who has?
