Market Basket $ 40.07
What a weird week! Moving, and trying to get settled after moving is not the easiest thing on the planet. Especially when you have a dog and an Etsy shop with orders to stay on top of.
Plus, staying in an Airbnb while waiting for just the right house to pop up can be a bit stressful too. We do have a full kitchen though, so I shouldn’t be stressing about meals, right? But it’s sooo easy to fall into the take out food trap. Especially since we were in an area with NO real fast food options before we moved.
Everything is magical and so close, it’s almost like being on vacation in another country. Ha! The HH did manage to pop into Market Basket though for a few things.
We basically eat bagels and cream cheese for three days in a row. And a lot of hot dogs {because we hadn’t had them in a while?}. I also made a big pot of chicken soup.
There were also beans and fried eggs. And we had ourselves a baked potato night too.
We tried to eat down all the contents in our freezer before we moved but we had to take a few things with us like some frozen vegetables, a package of bacon and some Aidells sausages. Not that I’m complaining.
But now the goal is to finish up those things so we don’t have to pack another cooler when we finally do find a house. Note: If I don’t eat another hot dog this year… I’ll be fine. Gaaa. {FYI: That was the HH’s plate, not mine.}
We need more vegetables in our diet!
But man oh man, it’s so easy to make excuses right now. 😉 Especially when we can just walk out the door and there are so many fun new restaurants to check out.
Life. It’s really weird right now.

Why did you move so fast? You couldn’t wait till you found another home? Must have missed it if you already said.
Mavis Butterfield says
It is very difficult to sell a home and find another one within a small window of time and have everything line up perfectly. Especially in Maine, where the housing market moves very fast and places get snatched up so quickly.
Marcia says
Plus, if are able to sell it with the furniture, it makes it a bit easier, I’d think – no need to put a 3BR house (or whatever your house was) worth of stuff in storage.
Cheryl says
Well good luck in the search.

Looks like a good week of eating to me! I know you’re in a stressful situation right now with looking for a new house but try to enjoy your “vacation” from the real world! Eat out at all those fabulous restaurants that you’re around right now! Go SIT on the beach for a day! Go to that museum and/or greenhouse you’ve been waiting to go see! Enjoy life!

Our rental was sold during COVID and we moved into a hotel to look for a house and that turned into over 100 days, in 4 towns. I never had more than a microwave, so we would end up eating out at least 90% if the time. It was so much fun at the time and we enjoyed it without guilt. Once we were settled, we were back to eating out twice a week or so. Give yourself Grace and realize it’s a short term, hopefully, situation. Meanwhile, enjoy!!

are you looking for a smaller place that’s less work? I loved your house on the lake!
Lana says
We really need to downsize and our house and acres are worth a stupid amount of money now but an interim place is out of the question with such belongings as a grand piano. Only FOUR houses come on the market in our county in the last week nd I would have not wanted any of them so we stay where we have been for 30 years and our kids are happy that the family home is still there to go back to.

I say eat at the fun restaurants for dinner and order salads to have for lunch the following day. It’s cheaper than eating both meals out, ensures you still have your veggies, and lets you indulge in whatever else you want to try at the restaurant.

Do I spy dark roasted Trader Joes potato chips on HH plate? I am in CA and they don’t carry them anymore. My sister was in GA and she shipped some to me! But those lasted about a week.
If you can find them in your local TJ’s-that would be the best give away ever! Ha. The only potato chips that I will eat…
I am so excited to hear about your house hunt. Enjoy this time, and keep pretending that you are on vacation !
Mavis Butterfield says
No, they were not from Trader Joe’s. Someone gave us some Wrap City chips to try and they were fantastic!!! https://wrapcitychips.com/

Moving is exhausting and stressful! I am sure it is strange/hard to be in limbo! Enjoy the perks of new, close places to eat..and any perks of living at the Airbnb right now!! Meals still look good and I see veggies!!
Good luck! Hope you find what you want and can get settled before too long.
Can’t wait to see where your secret trip is! I loved the Fair Isle posts!!

Mavis, did you sell that beautiful cabinet full of your canned goods too? I can’t believe you left everything behind. Did you have a kiln? What happened to that?
Mavis Butterfield says
Yes, the cupboard was left behind. But I took the kiln. 🙂
Judy says
Mavis what about your beautiful blue Aga stove that you saved and waited so long to have?? Did you leave that too??
Kathy H says
Did I miss the post about you moving? I’m shocked, I know you loved that place. Just curious why the decision to move. And what about your fabulous new stove? Good luck house hunting!
