One thing I’ll never understand is how cashiers / store managers interpret their own stores coupon policy differently… For instance… I had coupons (from the P&G Saver Booklet) for $1.00 off ANY secret deodorant and also $1.00 off ANY Herbal Essence product. To me… that typically means a FREE travel size item… But… in the case of double coupons… It may in fact mean get $2.00 ($1.00 coupon + $1.00 double coupon) off ANY Herbal Essence Product… and if that’s the case… Well…. ummm… that’s where overage can come into play (again, if your store/cashier allows it).
There is a $1.00 off coupon for ANY Schick razor in the 2/13 SS coupon insert…
I simply went to the travel section… and picked up a Schick razor 5 pk. for $1.59… and the cashier doubled the coupon…
That’s how I was able to score all of the above for only $3.60 w/ double coupons…
I’ve heard of a magical store called Publix… and also one called Shaw’s… if you have these store in your area… or within a drivable distance… They’re worth looking into… From what I understand… that’s where all the “Extreme Couponer’s shop…
And one last thing… Earlier in the week I picked up a bunch of $1.00 off ANY Seattle’s Best Coffee Coupons… Do you think I went out and used my double coupons on bags of $7 coffee? Nope… why? Because I’d still have to shell out another $5 to buy the bagged coffee… So instead I opted to double my $1.00 off ANY Seattle’s Best Coffee Coupons and score a boat load of iced coffee drinks for the Handsome Husband.
The funny thing is… I bet 1/2 of the cashiers would say… “It does say $1.00 of ANY Seattle’s Best Coffee products… and the other half would say “There’s a picture of a bag of coffee on the front… Nope… you can’t use this coupons.”
Using coupons can be frustrating… and fun too…
The key is… go to the happy coupon cashiers… it makes the check out go a lot smoother.
Happy Shopping,
Mavis
