I was going to ramble on about how I was so helpful creating this list of awesomely delicious cookies so you would have a whole slew of recipes to bake up and gift to friends and neighbors. But just between you and me, these recipes are for you to eat. And me to eat. I mean, I eat more than I gift. Seriously though, these recipes are so freakin yummy that I can’t help it. I lose all self control around the holidays and I just can’t stop baking cookies. And eating them.
So my mission this year is to only eat 1 {ahem, or 2} from each batch. Now let’s say I bake all 25 of my favorite recipes below. If I average 1 {ahem, 2} per batch, that means I will only have consumed 25 {50-AHH!} cookies between now and Christmas. Now if I divide that by the number of days until Christmas and factor in the cookies gifted to me, and then subtract all calories {since they don’t count around the holidays}, I think my equation leads to the very perfect amount of cookies to days ratio. Give or take a dozen.

That’s the right attitude, there! Random question: Have you ever made any of these peanut butter recipes using natural peanut butter? It’s what I have in my house right now, it’s spitting rain out, and I desperately want to make your chocolate/shortbread squares (but maybe not desperately enough to brave the deluge I see out there).

Hey Mavis, just wanted to share: the kids and I, for our annual baking day, made the monster choc. chip w/Reese’s; the almond joy bars; and the salted pretzel bark; and we also used the gingerbread recipe last week. Despite the (ahem) slight customizations (too much flour, wrong kind of butter, unsure oven temp, too little butter…), they are all super yummy. I also plan to make the peanut butter shortbread cookies tomorrow.
You rock, Mavis! Keep those awesome recipes coming!

Cool beans Delores, I’m glad you and your kiddos had fun. Now comes the fun part… eating all those cookies.
